Pinoy band in UAE releases single through online stores

An all-Filipino band in the United Arab Emirates has just released a single to nine major online stores.

"Collaboration single namin ito with Ney Dimaculagan, the former 6cylemnind vocalist who is now on his solo career with Bandang Ney. Na-produce namin itong collaboration song na ito while nandito si Ney sa Dubai last year," shared drummer Gilbert Magat of Skwalado in an email interview with GMA News Online.

"Ang hirap lang din kasing palagpasin ang opportunity to work with my former bandmate lalo na it's been years since nagkasama kaming mag-record sa isang song. Kaya nga when I got the opportunity to ask him if we can do this special project, sobra kaming natuwa at na-excite nung pumayag siya. This is not just a collaboration but a friendship," he added.

Skwalado started to make a buzz in the Muslim country after coming up with a song depicting a "secret emotion" for people-on-the-go last year.

Then it was recently featured on a radio station and in the Philippine foreign office there.

"Nung nagsisimula palang kasi ako as an OFW, yung bago ako umalis papuntang United Arab Emirates, na-experience ko yung having that mixed emotions na masaya dahil aalis for abroad but at the same time worried dahil iniisip ko yung mga bagay and sitwasyon na kakaharapin ko sa ibang lugar," Magat recounted.

"Malayo" could be streamed in Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon.com,  Google Play, Deezer, YouTube Music, iHeartRadio, and Napster. —LBG, GMA News
