Award-winning Pinoy scientist Glenn Banaguas to speak at Harvard climate conference
Award-winning scientist Glenn Banaguas will be the lone Filipino speaker at the upcoming Harvard Climate Action Week in June.
Banaguas, a recipient of the United Nations Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction Award in 2022, is expected to give a Filipino perspective in climate dialogue during the global meet.
“His presence is a powerful reminder that the path to global sustainability is paved with the diverse experiences and wisdom of all nations, especially those most affected by climate change,” according to the Outstanding Filipino (TOFIL) Laureates in a statement.
Banaguas’s message would focus on the importance of peace, unity, resilience, innovation, collaboration, and pursuit of sustainability in responding to climate emergency.
“His address is expected to resonate with a sense of urgency, calling upon the world to rally together in the face of this unprecedented challenge,” TOFIL Laureates said.
Banaguas became the first Filipino UN Sasakawa Laureate for his “Climate Smart Philippines: Science for Service” program, which seeks participation from different stakeholders in planning and implementing science and evidence-based actions towards disasters and climate change.
The Harvard Climate Action Week features climate experts, leaders, and stakeholders to share solutions in addressing climate issues.
