Filipino graduates summa cum laude from Yale University

A Filipino graduated summa cum laude from Yale University in the United States after earning a perfect 4.00 GPA. 

Dion Stephan Ong was among the 4,000 students who proudly wore their togas during the Connecticut university’s 323rd commencement ceremony last May 20. 

Ong graduated with combined degrees of Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Computer Science. 

In the Philippines, Ong graduated valedictorian from Ateneo de Manila Senior High School in 2020.

Ong is an incoming core developer for the trading firm Hudson River Trading in New York City. 

Founded in 1701, Yale University is one of the eight elite Ivy League member schools alongside Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, and Princeton University.
