The Vets talk about 'Born Impact,' the 'Born to be Wild' weekend edition

“What makes us proud is that these are world-class wildlife videos taken by a Filipino team.” This is what Doc Ferds Recio, host of the GMA environmental show BORN TO BE WILD, had to say about the upcoming weekend edition of the program.

“Hindi lang natin mapapanood sa mga foreign outfit dahil kuha ang mga videos na ito sa bansa natin, ng mga Pilipino mismo, para i-share sa kapwa Pilipino.”

BORN IMPACT, which premieres this Sunday January 27, aims to extend the reach of GMA’s pioneer nature and wildlife program to a younger audience in its new weekend morning slot.

“We want to prompt the viewers to act and do their share right after nila mapanood ang Born Impact,” says Doc Nielsen Donato, also a veterinarian-host of the show.

Over the years, BORN TO BE WILD has brought Philippine viewers closer to their natural world.  GMA’s multi-awarded environmental show has also been at the forefront of ecological issues since its launch in 2007.  Through its all-Filipino wildlife documentary team, BORN TO BE WILD has filmed Philippine television’s most extensive archive of nature and wildlife footage to date.

“Mapa-dagat, kagubatan, ilog, himpapawid, lahat na yata ng wildlife ay na-tackle na natin sa Born to be Wild, and this time we want to share tips kung paano naman natin sila mapapangalagaan," says Doc Nielsen.

“Sa Born Impact mas makakapanood yung mga bata, kasi mas maaga na yung timeslot, at ma-i-she-share natin sa mas maraming tao yung mensahe natin na protektahan ang kalikasan,” says Doc Ferds.

Born IMPACT is a call to take environmental awareness to greater heights, by reminding everyone that human actions have an impact – whether for good or for bad – on the planet we all share.

“The littlest thing that we do to harm the environment harms wildlife, and eventually it will harm us as well,” says Doc Ferds.

“With all the grave impacts of typhoons dahil sa pagkawala ng mga puno, mga pagbaha dahil sa mga bumabarang basura, hindi pa ba natin nakikita that nature is already suffering? At tayo rin mismo ang may magagawa to make things better”, says Doc Nielsen.

Born IMPACT will feature the best wildlife moments caught on camera – from rare encounters with majestic whales and dolphins, to close face-offs with beautiful reptiles.  The show will also feature useful insights on how each viewer can make his own promise to act towards the conservation of the earth’s remaining resources.

The special series Born IMPACT will launch on Sunday, January 27, right after AHA.  It is hosted by wildlife veterinarians Doc Ferds Recio and Doc Nielsen Donato.

Late-night program BORN TO BE WILD will continue to air on Wednesdays, right after Saksi!
