The vets of 'Born to be Wild' study massive fish on 'Big Fish: Open Season'
BORN TO BE WILD
“BIG FISH: Open Season”
Part 2 this Wednesday, after Saksi!
It may not be an everyday sight for common folk to see fish the size of full-grown humans.
But in the big blue ocean, the shark is not the only fish that can reach monstrous proportions.

Twelve hours away from Manila, the Province of Cagayan is a place where fish anglers go for the biggest catch. Here, tanigue, talakitok, and sailfish weigh up to forty kilos and can reach seven feet in length. Doc Nielsen and his team documented these big fish on their very first day with the fishermen. Thirteen hours into their journey in the open sea of Babuyan Channel, the fishermen caught a tanigue weighing ten kilos. But Doc Nielsen is yet to confirm the existence of bigger fish. He joins a group of anglers. Find out Doc Nielsen’s biggest catch.
In Palau, Doc Ferds was welcomed by thousands of fish in large groups or “schools”. He was also lucky enough to encounter a Mameng or Napoleon Wrasse which was about three feet long. But the fish was too shy to go near the divers and it swam away from the group. Experienced divers in Palau say it is not yet the biggest Mameng. They say there is a bigger and friendlier Mameng in another dive site—the blue corner. Doc Ferds heads to the blue corner dive site hoping to document and see this massive Mameng that the divers have been describing. Will Doc Ferds meet the big fish of Palau?
