'Born to be Wild' documents migratory birds and Philippine cobras

BORN TO BE WILD
February 15, 2015
During wintertime in other parts of the world, thousands of birds migrate to the Philippines where they find food and rest in our wetlands. But experts say the number of migratory birds visiting the Philippines has declined. Aside from hunting, land conversion is one of the reasons why migratory birds have looked to other areas for refuge. Join Doc Nielsen as he and a team of bird lovers document the behavior of these magnificent creatures. They also film a rare species that has not been seen since 1979.

Doc Ferds responds to calls about two Philippine cobras that were accidentally caught inside homes in Cavite and Bulacan. Doc Ferds is happy to see that these Philippine snakes were not harmed but rescued by locals, a sign that perhaps more people are becoming aware of the importance of wildlife. One of the rescued cobras is ready to be released back into the wild while the other is turned over to a rescue center where its wound is being treated.
