Dwindling caimans and unnamed caves on 'Born to be Wild'

BORN TO BE WILD
Airing date: May 24, 2015

The Amazon Rainforest, the largest of its kind on earth, is a habitat to thousands of plant and animal species. Humans have a stake in saving the Amazon too; this massive rainforest filters the air we breathe. This Sunday, Doc Ferds Recio continues his search for the unique species of the Amazon.

During a night river cruise, he comes face to face with juvenile caimans.  Wild as they may be, the population of the caiman is said to be dwindling as they continue to be hunted, and as their habitat is destroyed.

The Philippines is also mega-rich in biodiversity and many sites remain unstudied. In Catanduanes, Doc Nielsen Donato visits a number of unnamed caves to discover what wildlife species thrive inside. The team was surprised when they documented a freshwater crab that is believed to be a newly recorded species in Catanduanes.

Don’t miss this Sunday’s episode after AHA!
