The Philippines is high on the list of countries contributing to ocean pollution, according to a study conducted by scientists from the United States. Waste materials such as plastic bags, bottles, food packs and even fishing gear, continue to pollute the ocean.

Experts say this is now a global problem. Doc Ferds visits Thilafushi Island which serves as a landfill for waste produced by the Maldives. When storms hit, the garbage is swept into the ocean and into the Maldives’ turquoise-clear waters. In the Philippines, the same is true for our bodies of water. Is there a solution to this problem? And how do individual lifestyles and habits contribute to the issue?

Doc Nielsen travels to Mindoro to check on nearly a hundred Philippine pond turtles. These endemic and critically endangered turtles were saved from poachers who hunt them for their meat. Doc Nielsen tries to save some of the turtles who are in desperate need of medical treatment.
