Lion fish on ‘Born to be Wild’

BORN TO BE WILD

September 15, 2019

Can you imagine thousands of swiftlet birds living inside your house? In Bacolod, Lanao del Norte, a family has welcomed thousands of swiftlets inside their home. Doc Ferds visits the house and investigates why the swiftlets chose Roselyn’s abode as their sanctuary. Doc Ferds and the team also document a peculiar behavior of the swiftlets. It turns out that sibling rivalry can be so strong in these birds that even days-old chicks try to push their siblings out of the nest.

Doc Nielsen dives in Sarangani to look for the lion fish dubbed as one of the opportunistic hunters of the underwater world. This species of fish is highly predatorial and carries toxins in their spines. They can naturally be found in Philippine seas. But in Florida, USA, they are now considered one of the most devastating marine invaders as they eat local and endemic fish species. Experts say that lion fish from aquariums were released into the ocean and because they are not naturally occurring in Florida, these lion fish became invasive.

Wake up early this Sunday morning and watch your favorite wildlife and conservation show—Born to be Wild, after AHA!
