The Tarsier and the Tamaraw

Episode on May 7, 2008 Tuesday night after Saksi This Wednesday, Born to be Wild takes you on an encounter with two fascinating animals so closely identified with the Philippines - the Tarsier and the Tamaraw. They're strange but cute. Their big, bulging eyes and long, little tails are only some of the traits that make them one of the most interesting species on land. Romi Garduce meets the Philippine Tarsiers of Bohol, and studies their behavior in the wild. Now endangered after many years of poaching and deforestation, the Philippine Tarsier finds refuge in a protected sanctuary. In the mountains of Mindoro, Doc Ferds searches for one of the last remaining herd of wild Tamaraws. Long threatened by hunting activities and habitat degradation, these majestic creatures endemic to the Philippines now face extinction. Doc Ferds joins a group of conservationists in an attempt to save the Tamaraw.

Samantala, sa kabundukan naman ng Mindoro maglalakbay si Doc Ferds. Sa pusod ng kabundukan matatagpuan ang isang grupo ng mga wild Tamaraw. Endangered na ring itinuturing ang mga naggagandahang hayop na ito. Biktima sila ng hunting, pagkasira ng kagubatan, at ng isang epidemyang tumama noon sa Mindoro. Tutulong si Doc Ferds sa pagsagip sa kanilang naghihingalong bilang.
