Meet the 78-year-old runner who outruns the young

RUN, LOLA, RUN!

MEET THE 78-YEAR-OLD RUNNER WHO OUTRUNS THE YOUNG

November 26, 5PM on GMA Public Affairs YouTube Channel, Spotify and Apple Podcasts

In every fun run across Metro Manila and nearby provinces, one runner always steals the spotlight and even medals: 78-year-old Mommy Rosalinda Ogsimer, the unstoppable lola who often leaves younger runners eating her dust. Her journey didn’t start in a gym or on a track. At 65 years old, with zero exercise experience, she was simply invited by her eldest child to join a family walk. She resisted at first,“Ayaw ko magsuot ng rubber shoes, napapangitan ako!”, but that single walk sparked a passion that would transform her life.

What began as slow laps became 5Ks, then 10Ks, then 21K half-marathons, and eventually ultra-distances up to 65 kilometers. She even trained for the legendary 102 km Bataan Death March Ultramarathon. Mommy Rosalinda now holds 8 gold medals and 1 silver medal from the Masters Athletics Championships, beating competitors from India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and more.

Behind her strength is a story of healing. After losing her husband of 47 years, running became her therapy. “Nalilibang ako. Nakakalimutan mo yung lungkot kahit sandali,” she shares. At 78, she has no plans of stopping. Mommy Rosalinda proves one thing: you’re never too old to begin, to heal, or to chase a finish line. Catch her story on i-Listen this November 26, Wednesday, 5:00 PM on GMA Public Affairs YouTube Channel, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
