The newest episode of I-LISTEN features an inspiring and deeply personal conversation with actress, model, and entrepreneur Wilma Doesnt, who shares her journey from being bullied for her dark skin to becoming one of the country’s most recognizable actress and advocate for skin positivity.

Growing up in Cavite, Wilma recalls being called “negra,” and  “tikbalang,” -- names that reflected the rigid beauty standards of the 80s and 90s. She admits she never saw herself as beautiful until she was discovered by a fashion director, a moment that changed the course of her life.

 

 

 

From sweeping the streets in maong shorts to winning Mutya ng Cavite 1994, Wilma worked her way into the modeling industry, learning poise, discipline, and confidence.

“Lahat puwede mong aralin,” she tells Kara. “At kapag naniwala ka sa sarili mo, lalabas ’yan.”

 

 

 

The episode also dives into Wilma’s emotional journey of meeting her biological parents as an adult. Despite being given up as a child, Wilma reveals she feels no resentment—only gratitude.

“If you want life to be beautiful, you have to be forgiving and forgetful. And forgive yourself, too.”

 

 
 

Today, Wilma continues to inspire as a mother, wife, and businesswoman. Her message remains clear:
“Kagandahan ay nasa loob. Love your skin. Love yourself.”
