9 Years of Flavor: Pinas Sarap Celebrates with an Ultimate Food Trip in Hong Kong

Catch the 9th Anniversary Special of Pinas Sarap this Saturday on GMA.

In this exciting two-part food adventure, Kara David explores the flavors that make Hong Kong a global gastronomy hub.

 

Known for its modern skyline and towering buildings, Hong Kong is also home to places that have preserved their traditions, such as the historic Tai O Fishing Village. Kara visits the village to sample their unique street food and learn how they make one of their signature products—shrimp paste. It is their version of the Filipino bagoong alamang, except that it is sold in solid blocks. She will also discover how they make their version of salted eggs, where only the egg yolk is used.

 

 

Kara also heads to a restaurant recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand, known for its delicious clay pot dishes. Will Kara be able to cook one of their famous clay pot specialties?

 

Of course, no Hong Kong food adventure would be complete without sampling some authentic hakaw, siu mai, and other dim sum favorites. Kara visits a well-known dim sum restaurant where she even gets the chance to try making dim sum herself.  

 

 

 

 

 

The most thrilling part of her journey is meeting Hong Kong’s Snake Queen. Kara visits her restaurant to taste her famous snake soup. The adventure doesn’t end with the flavorful dish because Kara will also get the chance to hold the snakes herself!
