Historical mini-series 'Katipunan' premieres this October on GMA Network

Award-winning actor Sid Lucero and versatile actress Glaiza de Castro were recently chosen to banner GMA News and Public Affairs’ first historical mini-series, Katipunan.
Lucero will play the role of Andres Bonifacio while de Castro will portray Bonifacio’s wife, Gregoria de Jesus. Joining them are Kapuso actors Benjamin Alves, Dominic Roco, Mercedes Cabral, Nico Antonio, Soliman Cruz and Roi Vinzon.
Behind this ambitious project is an award-winning production team led by Katipunan creator Jaileen Jimeno, program manager Nowell Cuanang and writer Ian Victoriano. Jimeno is also the senior program manager of GMA News TV’s Bawal ang Pasaway and Investigative Documentaries. Cuanang, on the other hand, is the program manager of the internationally recognized documentary program Reel Time, which earned GMA – and the country – its third George Foster Peabody Award. Victoriano wrote the critically acclaimed movie Sakay. A pool of historical experts were tapped to provide context to the series.
Katipunan is an eight-part dramatic series that aims to present the Katipunan history in its entirety, from Bonifacio’s formation of the group to the surrender of Emilio Aguinaldo to Americans. It will present in detail the life of the Supremo, the truth about the intrigues and in-fighting within the Katipunan, and the heroes and heels of the Philippine Revolution.
Katipunan will premiere this October 19 on GMA 7.
