Single and ready to mingle? 2016 might be your lucky year
Having a crush on someone, only to find out that he or she is already in love with somebody else. Giving everything you could, but still being unappreciated in the end. Expressing love to somebody, only to get rejected. Being in a long-term and seemingly perfect relationship that eventually grows exhausting and suffocating.
Does any of these sound familiar to you? Don’t cry. You’re not alone.

The last time that Jared (not his real name), 21 years-old, had a girlfriend was in 2010, back when he was still in college. That relationship lasted only for two months. Jared admits that there were times when he would just feel lonely. “Wala naman ang may gusto na mag-isa, ‘di ba?” So that’s why he admits to be using a famous mobile dating app for about a year now, hoping that, maybe, The One is swiping left and right, too.
This is the same case of Joanna (not her real name), a 22-year-old single mother. “Although I’ve been raising my child alone for six years by now, honestly, may times pa rin na umaasa ako na sana may kasama akong nagpapalaki sa kaniya. Kasi gusto ko na tumanda ‘yung anak ko na may daddy figure.”
Joanna shares that there have already been a few guys who came to her life in the past few years. “Pero all of them, wala, umalis din sila sa buhay ko. And mas masakit this time kasi hindi lang ako ang iniwan kundi pati anak ko.”
There’s a reason why love is included in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, why there’s a month of love, why even the characters from the Bible expressed love, or why love songs always top the music charts; we feel the need to give love even though, sometimes, what we can give to someone will never be seen enough or will never be reciprocated at all. #lalimnghugot
But in 2016, will Jared, Joanna, and other hopeless romantics already find what they’ve been looking for? If we look at feng shui, there can be a lot of ways that may be of help.

First, celebrity feng shui expert Hanz Cua tips wearing pink underwear more often because it helps activate your love luck star. Pink, also, is the color of love in feng shui.

For women who are about to buy a new necklace, why not buy one that’s said to give you high chances of finding true love? According to Cua--who holds an advanced degree in feng shui--wearing a necklace with a rose-shaped pink quartz can also help you bumping into The One in 2016.
Of course, love won’t come to you out of nowhere just because you’re wearing pink undies and a pink quartz. Going out and being more sociable will definitely help you, too, says the Chinese astrology expert. Attending parties and special occasions will help you improve your communication skills. After all, a good conversation never goes out of style.

For everybody, whether single or married, putting up fresh red roses in the western part of the house at 11:00 AM every Friday will also help boosting your love life, given that in feng shui, 11:00 AM is the time for the activation of love. Also, Cua says that west is the sector of love in 2016.
Aside from fresh red roses, Cua says displaying charms of Mandarin ducks (a perching duck species typically found in East Asia) will also be of help. According to an online feng shui website, “The Mandarin ducks are the most popular, well-known, and widely used traditional feng shui cure for love.” The website adds that you should display them as a couple. Never put a Mandarin duck alone because it doesn’t, in any way, show happy love! In China and Japan, these ducks are also known for their loyalty and devotion to their partners.

Hanging a wind chimes that has six to eight metal rods in your house will also give you good luck in meeting Mr. or Ms. Right, adds the feng shui expert.
Cua says that 2016 is a year that’s good for finding love, especially if you’re an Ox, Sheep, Snake, Rat, or Dragon.
However, if you’re a Dog or a Pig, you might have a bad luck, says Cua, because you’re “prone to arguments that can lead to a breakup and long-term problems.”
Cua notes that relying on feng shui alone won’t help you find love. Of course, you should also exert more effort in doing so. “These are computed based on the star position… These stars are only a guide,” he says.
“Success or failure in life still depends on your hard work, determination, and prayers. Feng shui or astrology are just extra ingredients to make life successful.”---BMS/GMA Public Affairs
