Are you willing to travel three hours in order to teach? Can you traverse steep mountain terrains and muddy roads in order to accomplish your oath? And after thirty years of service, what is in store for the retired teacher?
At the top of the mountain, far from the city, is where Sitio Linggawa in Santa Cruz, Ilocor Sur is located. Before reaching the place, one needs to travel for more than three hours in the steep road and rushing water of the river; despite this, teachers Richard and Jun travels every week to teach in Sitio Linggawa. The only thing that relieves their hardwork is the smile in the faces of the students and their hunger to learn when they see their teachers.
Teacher Alcantara has been working for more than thirty years. The classroom served as her second home, and she treat her students as her own children. Teacher Alcantara devoted her years teaching that she no longer had a chance to have her own family. And after more than three decades, Teacher Alcantara is retiring and will finally leave the place she considered as her second home.
Be inspired by the stories of the teachers who are willing to sacrifice for their profession. Please watch I Juander this Wednesday, eight o’clock in the evening on GMA News TV.
