"Igorot Country" (Documentary by Howie Severino)
Episode on December 2010 Monday after Saksi! Americans built Baguio, not the Spaniards, so cowboys rule. Among many natives, the rugged cowboy spirit is in their outlook, their fashion, and their music, which they call Igorot country, adapted from the American music of the frontier. Howie Severino begins his exploration of this subculture on horseback with Scott, the chief of Baguio's pony boys. On a gallop up a mountain, Howie suffers a typical cowboy accident that sends him to the hospital. The incident doesn't prevent Howie and Scott from experiencing the Igorot country night life and meeting some of the icons of this local music. In the daytime, Howie and his team discover that these native country performers resort to unusual methods to market their recordings. Howie Severino rides through Igorot Country on I-Witness this Monday, December 27, right after Saksi. Yee-ha!
