A story of determination on I-Witness' 'Tulay'
I-WITNESS: TULAY
Dokumentaryo ni Jay Taruc
Airing date: April 16 , 2012
"Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." - T.S Elliot
In the heart of Marilog District in Davao we find the Dumalogdog primary school. To get to the school, students need to walk for an hour or two from the mountain, traverse at least four knee-deep streams and cross a bridge, which is now broken and falling apart.

The decade-old bridge is the only way for the children of Matigsalug tribe to cross the ravaging Davao River. These kids need to hold tightly to the rusty cables of the bridge and precariously balance themselves until they get to the other side.
Now, going to school is becoming a burden for the students.
For Kissy Lumbinay, a grade 4 student in Dumalogdog primary school, this broken took away her glory, she should have been top 1 in her class.
As for the other Matigsalug kids, it is indeed a privilege having this school built within their community. For literacy amongst the tribe is a dream that is yet to come true.
This Monday night, Jay Taruc discovers an extraordinary story of determination among students and teachers of the Matigsalug tribe in Davao.
I-Witness' "Tulay" airs this Monday, after Saksi.
