"Used and Found (Segunda Mano)": dokumentaryo ni Jay Taruc sa 'I-Witness'

“USED AND FOUND (SEGUNDA MANO)”
Dokumentaryo ni Jay Taruc
Airing date: January 20, 2014

English Version

Through the years, surplus shops, secondhand dry goods, and used clothing, popularly known as “ukay-ukay, have sprouted like mushrooms. All over the Philippines, these shops are the most sought after by the poor and even the people from the middle class because of the low prices of imported products.

For some, obtaining secondhand goods have become their way of life. The epitome of this lifestyle is Romeo Lee. As a self confessed “ukay-ukay fanatic,” he frequents surplus shops, almost everyday.  These secondhand goods are so useful and beneficial for him as an artist and musician.

In this episode, Jay Taruc accompanies his long time friend Romeo Lee in scouting for some authentic items in these secondhand shops. Aside from acquiring new “old items,” it has become a learning experience for Jay. That individuality doesn’t come with a price tag.
