'I-Witness' presents 'Bagong Balat,' July 12, on GMA-7

Human body art like tattoos and body piercings have become ordinary over the years. It has become too common that it is easy to spot people of different ages and from different walks of life exhibiting these adornments on their skin.  Tattoo and piercing shops are also not difficult to find anymore.

For Filipinos like Totie, whose body and face are almost covered up by ink and metallic studs, having tattoos is more than a fashion statement --- they are a representation of his life’s miseries. They are marks of his disillusionments and cynicisms.

Just like Totie, Samie is also a product of unfortunate events. His face is also inked all over. He blames his past with what has become of his present life. Every tattoo on his skin has meaning. And one of his plans is not to leave a space on his skin without ink.

But Samie is proud of what he has become, an artist who owns a profitable tattoo and body piercing shop.

For Totie, however, his journey is still unknown. He still wants to continue inflicting pain by trying out a relatively new form of extreme body art as homage to his very sick young son.

Join Jay Taruc as he enters the world of these human canvases on I-Witness this Saturday, after Celebrity Bluff.
