Blind child

Episode on August 27, 2007 Monday late night after Saksi To the public, the blind are mostly adults who have niche jobs like massage therapy and music. But where are the blind children? They are usually with their mothers, who serve as their eyes while they learn to use their other senses to make sense of the world. Howie Severino shadows several blind preschoolers whose parents must come to terms with the commitment and the sacrifices of raising children who cannot see. He observes their interactions with the sighted world as they commute to school, wander their neighborhoods, and visit the Museo Pambata. Howie stumbles upon the subject by chance when he meets Aleeia, a talkative five year old who introduces him to a new way of perceiving. He finds out Aleeia goes to a unique school in Cubao that teaches computers for the blind but also instructs parents that their children can eventually go to regular schools and grow up to be normal. Howie Severino’s latest documentary, “Blind Child", airs on I-Witness this Monday late night over GMA-7.

Hindi biro ang sakripisyo ng mga ama’t ina na nagpapalaki sa mga batang pinagkaitan ng paningin. Sa kabila nito, ilang bata ang tila normal na nakikisalamuha sa iba. Gaya na lang ng limang taong si Aleeia na nakilala ni Howie sa di inaasahang paraan. Ipakikilala ni Aleeia si Howie sa kaniyang mga kaibigan: si Jaybee na isa sa apat na magkakapatid na bulag at sina Joshua at Jerome, kambal na kapwa bulag din. Samahan si Howie Severino sa kakaibang mundo ng mga batang bulag sa I-Witness, sa ika-27 ng Agosto, Lunes ng gabi sa GMA 7.
