Iba't ibang Pinoy Christmas food favorites, ibibida sa 'Pinas Sarap'

Masigla at makulay ang Paskong Pilipino. Saan man kayo tumingin, mga nagniningning na dekorasyon ang mapapansin. Maririnig na rin ang himig ng mga batang nangangaroling. Pero bukod sa mga ito, ang isa pang nagbibigay kulay ng Pasko, ang mga nagsasarapang pagkain. Ngayong Huwebes, samahan si Kara David tikman at alamin ang kwento sa likod ng ilang pagkaing paborito nating lantakan tuwing Pasko. 

Kapag nalalapit na ang Pasko, dagsa na rin sa simbahan ang mga tao para sa tradisyon nating misa de galo o simbang gabi. At tuwing may simbang gabi, asahan na rin sa gilid ng mga simbahan ang hile-hilerang bibingka at puto bumbong na itinitinda! Nakasanayan na kasi nating mga Pilipino na kumain ng mga ito pagkatapos magsimba. Pero paano at kelan nga ba nagsimula ang tradisyong ito? ‘Yan ang aalamin ni Kara. Titikman din natin ang iba’t ibang bersyon ng puto bumbong at bibingka na bunga ng malikhaing isipan at husay ng mga Pilipino sa kusina.

Isa pang hinahain tuwing Pasko, ang Keso de Bola. Pinaniniwalaan kasi nating maswerte ang hugis nitong bilog at kulay na pula. Pero dahil may kamahalan ang kesong ito, samahan si Kara alamin kung paano gumawa ng homemade version nito. Tuturuan din tayo ng isang chef ng kanyang mga keso de bola recipes.

Christmas in the Philippines is always lively and colorful. Wherever you look, there are decorations, and you will hear the children singing Christmas carols in the streets. But aside from these, the yummy food that is served is one of the highlights of the season. This Thursday, join Kara David as she tries out the foods that are usually served during Christmas season and the stories behind these foods.

As Christmas nears, the church is busy because of the traditional midnight mass. And in every church, there are vendors selling rice cakes or bibingka and puto bumbong, a rice cake cooked in a cylindrical pot.  Eating these foods after mass has been part of the Filipino culture. Kara will try out various versions of these rice cakes.

Another food that is served during Christmas is keso de bola or round cheese. It is believed that round shape food at the color red bring good luck. Although this is a little pricey, worry not because we will show you how to make a home-made version of this and other recipes with keso de bola.
