This Tuesday on Powerhouse, take a tour of Bayani Fernando's home
After his loss in the 2010 Elections, Bayani Fernando avoided public attention. He went back to his private business to once again shore up his wealth, which he says has diminished while he was in public office.
Unknown to many, Bayani Fernando's company built some of the tallest buildings in the country like PBCom Tower and Rufino Tower. Now, he is building classrooms for the Department of Education. He designed the buildings himself. Made from pre-fabricated metal, a 2-classroom building can be finished within 6 days.
As mayor of Marikina and then MMDA Chairman, Bayani was known to be a no-nonsense kind of leader. Some say he was heavy-handed in his implementation of his projects but others lauded his sheer determination and political will.
Will he still seek political office in the near future? Bayani Fernando says he and his wife Marides are on an indefinite leave of absence but are not closing their doors on politics. He may just be bidding his time.
This Tuesday, Bayani Fernando takes Kara David on a tour in his beautiful and modern high-ceilinged house in Marikina and shows her one of his favorite hobbies, singing. Powerhouse airs every Tuesday, 8pm on GMA News TV.
