Apple working on ultra-thin 15in Mac notebook?

Apple Inc. is in the late stages of testing a 15-inch ultra-thin Mac notebook, at least two Apple enthusiast sites reported. MacRumors said it is not immediately clear if the new product will be included in its MacBook Air or MacBook Pro lineups. "The ultra-thin market is also about to get much more competitive this fall as Intel's partners begin launching their Ultrabook notebooks," it said. But it said the timing of the ultra-thin 15-inch Apple notebook is a mystery as Apple just revamped the MacBook Air with new 11" and 13" models. It added the MacBook Pro line was refreshed in February, likely pushing the next release out to at least very late in the year. On the other hand, it noted the MacBook Air, originally priced as a premium product, may have found a more mainstream market as its starting price dropped to $999. Another enthusiast site, The Unofficial Apple Weblog, believes the new notebook will fall under the "MacBook Pro" branding alongside a thin 17" model. "Chances are these will be the next MacBook Pros, not oversized Airs. There's also a 17" model in the works. And we might see them under Christmas trees, with a few weeks to spare," it said. — TJD, GMA News
