Magnitude 6.2 quake hits Burgos, Surigao del Norte


A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Burgos, Surigao del Norte Friday night.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, happened at 11:06 p.m. and was located at 10.39°N, 126.09°E - 041 km N 03° E of Burgos.

The first earthquake information released by PHIVOLCS recorded the magnitude at 6.4. However, a subsequent bulletin issued few minutes later placed it at 6.2.

Aftershocks were expected, the bulletin added.

No one was reported hurt and no structure was damaged due the quake, according to a report on GMA News TV's News TV Live on Saturday. —LDF/KG, GMA News
