Chocolate-smelling fart? There's a pill for that

Trust the French to think of everything.

Can the bothersome smell of a fart be turned into the sweet smell of chocolate? A French inventor claims pills he developed can do just that.

Christian Poincheval says his invention, dubbed the "Fart Pill," is "100 percent natural."

He said the idea occurred to him during a dinner where he thought it would be "more appropriate to be able to fart without bothering his neighbors!"

Christmas special

The product website claims that the product uses charcoal, fennel seed extract, and lithothamne red algae to help ease bowel movement—but the special Christmas edition pills contain cocoa fragrance so you can "fart through the New year in grand style."

An article on tech site Mashable said Poincheval, 65, spent eight years to this - with the pills easing digestion so farts smell better.

"A bottle of 60 pills retails for €9.99, or $12.50, which seems shockingly low for something that makes terrible things smell like good things," it said.

Chocolate scent

UK's The Telegraph called it “The Father Christmas fart pill that gives your farts the scent of chocolate.”

“I have all sorts of customers. Some buy them because they have problems with flatulence and some buy them as a joke to send to their friends. Christmas always see a surge in sales,” he said. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
