WATCH: NASA starts posting ultra-high definition videos on YouTube

Still think videos of space are empty or boring? The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration hopes to change all that with its YouTube channel.

NASA said it is now uploading 4K Ultra High-Definition (UHD) video to its ReelNASA channel, to boost the view of life in space.

"This important new capability will allow researchers to acquire high resolution - high frame rate video to provide new insight into the vast array of experiments taking place every day. It will also bestow the most breathtaking views of planet Earth and space station activities ever acquired for consumption by those still dreaming of making the trip to outer space," NASA also said.

A separate report on T3.com said this means NASA's videos would run at a whopping 60 frames per second.

"Indeed, the most scenic job in the world is getting the Ultra HD treatment, all for our viewing pleasure," it said.

T3 noted YouTube started supporting videos with 4K resolution and run at 60 FPS last March, "so NASA is one of the first channels to utilize the futuristic format."

But it also pointedo out not all devices can support 4K content at 60 FPS at this time.
