Estrada distributes 50 e-trikes in Manila; Ube buses rolled out in Makati

Former President and incumbent Manila Mayor Joseph "Erap" Ejercito Estrada has started distributing the first batch of 50 electric tricycle units in Manila, a report on Balitanghali said Thursday.

The turnover of the "e-trikes" started on Wednesday and another batch is set to be distributed in the coming days, the report added.

An e-trike which takes four to five hours to be fully charged has a cheaper boundary and down payment compared to an ordinary petroleum-fueled tricycle.

There are also designated charging stations and terminals for the said e-trikes.

The e-trike is aimed at providing a better livelihood program for the marginalized sector in Manila.

Meanwhile, premium airport bus service "UBE Express" has started accepting passengers coming from Glorietta 4 and 5 and hotels in Ayala Center, Makati City going to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminals.

"UBE Express" buses are said to be more comfortable and efficient for passengers compared to ordinary buses. It also has Wi-Fi and closed-circuit cameras.

The new premium buses also include a credit card and tap ticketing technology. — Marlly Rome Bondoc/MDM, GMA News
