LPA threatens to form east of Luzon, thunderstorms to persist due to ITCZ

Another low pressure area (LPA) is threatening to form east of Luzon, GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel Cruz said Tuesday evening.

Citing data from Metraweather, Mang Tani said that the LPA might form on Wednesday and enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat) in the following days.

Meanwhile, the inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) has brought rain over southern Luzon the entire Tuesday afternoon. It will continue to bring rain over Central and southern Luzon, and the entire Visayas region, especially Samar and Leyte.

The entire Luzon will also have bad weather, especially Cagayan and Cordillera, which are forecast to experience "intense thunderstorms."

In Mindanao, rains are expected to prevail over the Sulu Archipelago, and a large part of the region will experience a thunderstorm in the afternoon.

There is a high chance that Metro Manila will also experience thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon and evening. — Jessica Bartolome/BM, GMA News
