Pinay engineer lands dream job at NASA
At a young age, Josephine Santiago-Bond already had the heart for Science. Now, she has reached her big dreams of working at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
The Filipina is just one of the systems engineers of the agency that handles space programs.
"I'm a systems engineer and the simplest way I can describe a systems engineer's job is we solve technical problems..." Santiago-Bond said.
The Filipina recalled how her passion and interest for Science had started when she was still a kid, saying that she loved playing acids and bases before.
"I think I always secretly wanted to be an engineer. When I was in grade school, my mom took home some indicators and I played with acids and bases," Santiago-Bond said.
"I loved the color combinations that I got from playing with that. It created a really vivid memory that I think really influenced me to get into science," she added.
Being employed at NASA was a dream come true for her. She said she is inspired with how her co-workers work as well as the mission of the space organization.
"The first time I work here in Kennedy Space Center, I was not employed by NASA..." she said.
"What was supposed to be a one-time summer job quickly became prominent because when I came here I fell in love with the surroundings, the passion of the people I work with and also the uniqueness of the mission of the agency," she added. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
