400-kilo pawikan washes up dead on beach in Sariaya, Quezon
SARIAYA, Quezon - A leatherback sea turtle (pawikan) weighing 400 kilograms washed up dead on a beach in Sariaya, Quezon on Tuesday morning.
Residents found the sea turtle in Barangay Bignay II with wounds on its body.
Personnel from the local government immediately went to the site to examine the sea turtle.
The sea turtle will be subjected to necropsy to determine the cause of death.
The leatherback sea turtle is the biggest type of sea turtle.
