Gov’t approves Sinovac Biotech as potential collaborating organization for COVID-19 vaccine trials


The government has approved the Beijing-based Sinovac Biotech as a potential collaborating organization for the clinical trials in the Philippines of COVID-19 vaccine candidates.

The approval was made by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases on Monday, according to the resolution released by Malacañang on Tuesday.

Sinovac Biotech developed one of the potential vaccines being tested in China.

The other collaborating organizations for the clinical trials are the Adimmune Corp., Academia Sinica, the Chinese Academy of Science-Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and Health, and the SinoPharma-Wuhan Institute of Biological Products and Beijing Institute.

The IATF also added the Board of Investments as a member of the IATF sub-technical working group on vaccine development. —LDF, GMA News
