Magnitude 6.1 earthquake hits Cotabato City, Maguindanao

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred early Sunday morning in Cotabato City, Maguindanao, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The quake was recorded at 1:09 a.m. and its epicenter was located at 07.27°N, 124.18°E - 010 km N 35° W of Cotabato City, Maguindanao.

The tectonic earthquake had a depth of focus of 489 km.

Damage and aftershocks are to be expected, PHIVOLCS said. —KG, GMA News
