Magnitude 5.3 aftershock jolts Surigao del Sur

Just minutes after a magnitude 6.1 earthquake rocked Surigao del Sur, a magnitude 5.3 aftershock hit the same region on Monday.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the magnitude 5.3 aftershocks occurred at 6:21 a.m.

Its epicenter was located 09.35°N, 127.04°E - 093 km N 63° E of the municipality of Bayabas.

The tectonic quake had a depth of focus of 8 km.

No damage is expected, but aftershocks may occur, PHIVOLCS said. —KG, GMA News
