Magnitude 5.4 quake strikes Davao Oriental


A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Sunday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

The earthquake occurred at 8:09 a.m.

The epicenter was located at 06.40°N, 126.28°E - 037 km S 39° E of the municipality of Governor Generoso.

The quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of focus of 42 km.

Intensity V was felt in Governor Generoso.

Meanwhile, the quake was also felt in the following areas:

  • Intensity IV: Mati City, Davao Oriental
  • Intensity III: Tampakan and Tupi, South Cotabato
  • Intensity II: Davao City; General Santos City; Kidapawan City; Kiamba, Sarangani
  • Intensity I: Arakan, Cotabato
