Magnitude 5 quake hits Zamboanga Sibugay


A magnitude 5 earthquake struck Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay on Wednesday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The tectonic earthquake happened at 8:03 p.m. and had a depth of focus of 23 kilometers.

Data from PHIVOLCS showed the following reported intensities:

Intensity V - Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay

Intensity IV - Zamboanga City; Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur; Isabela City, Basilam; Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay

Intensity III - Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur; Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte; Intensity II - Dipolog City, Polanco and Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte; Molave, Zamboanga del Sur

 

 

PHIVOLCS warned that aftershocks are expected.
