Magnitude 5.3 earthquake hits Occidental Mindoro
A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck Occidental Mindoro on Sunday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The earthquake occurred at 5:59 a.m. and its epicenter was located at 12.87°N, 120.81°E - 005 km N 49° E of the municipality of Sablayan.
The tectonic quake had a depth of 3 kilometers.
The quake was felt in the following areas:
- Intensity V: Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro
- Intensity III: Santa Cruz, Occidental Mindoro
- Intensity II: Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro; Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro
PHIVOLCS said damage may result and aftershocks may occur.
The agency first reported the earthquake as having magnitude 5.6. —KG, GMA News
