Magnitude 5.2 earthquake hits Davao Oriental


A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Oriental on Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

Based on its report, PHIVOLCS said the earthquake occurred at 8:57 a.m. and was located at 06.45°N, 126.40°E - 043 km S 59° E of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.

PHIVOLCS said the earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 39 kilometers.

Intensity IV was felt in Malita and Santa Maria in Davao Occidental, Governor Generoso and San Isidro in Davao Oriental.

Intensity III was experienced in Compostela in Davao De Oro, Digos City and Hagonoy in Davao Del Sur, Don Marcelino and Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental, Glan and Malungon in Sarangani, and Tupi in South Cotabato

Intensity II was reported in Maragusan and Mawab in Davao De Oro, Tagum City in Davao Del Norte, Kiblawan and Santa Cruz in Davao Del Sur, Davao City, Mati City and Tarragona in Davao Oriental; Arakan and Kidapawan City in Cotabato, Alabel and Malapatan in Sarangani, Tampakan in South Cotabato, and Lutayan in Sultan Kudarat

Intensity I was also felt Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental, Magsaysay in Davao Del Sur, Koronadal City and Polomolok in South Cotabato, and General Santos City.
