Magnitude 4.7 earthquake recorded offshore Cagayan —PHIVOLCS

A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck offshore Calayan, Cagayan on Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

The earthquake was recorded at 7:56 a.m., it added.

The epicenter was located at 19.29°N, 121.09°E - 024 km N 31° W of Dalupiri Island in the municipality of Calayan.

The quake had a depth of nine km and was tectonic in origin.

No damage and aftershocks were expected, PHIVOLCS said.

PHIVOLCS earlier reported the earthquake to be at magnitude 5 before downgrading it. —KG, GMA Integrated News
