No tsunami threat to PH after Japan earthquake —PHIVOLCS

There is no tsunami threat to the Philippines following a strong earthquake that hit Japan on Monday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said. 

The magnitude 7.4 earthquake hit off the east coast of Honshu in Japan at 3:52 p.m. It has a depth of 10 kilometers.

 

 
While there is no recommended action, PHIVOLCS said that “hazardous tsunami waves are possible for coasts located within 300 km of the earthquake epicenter.” —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA News
