Yet another Siri rival for Android surfaces

Another alternative to Siri —the Apple iPhone 4S' voice-activated assistant— has surfaced for users of mobile devices running Google's Android.

Cluzee is one of the latest attempts to replicate the Siri experience on Android, tech site CNET reported Wednesday (Manila time).

"In terms of Siri counterparts for Android, Cluzee can already be considered one of the best options available. Sure, it has a ways to go before it can really match up against the iPhone 4S' killer feature, but it is a decent version 1.0 offering," CNET said.

The app, developed by startup Tronton, is touted as "your intelligent personal assistant" (www.cluzee.com) and answers simple questions with "helpful" responses.

Cluzee.com said the app also reads incoming text messages, and has a car mode where it can access daily briefs, personal radio, search, maps, and directions while driving.

But CNET said there were instances where the app recognized requests down to the word, but the user still had to make extra inputs.

On the other hand, it said Cluzee is fun and useful in its ability to find deals based on location.

"Also, dictating a Twitter update or Facebook status message is relatively easy and intuitive, though it still feels like there might be a step or two to eliminate along the way," it said.

CNET suggested a simple widget button to be added to a device's home screen.

"It doesn't make much sense to open the app just to push another button. Call me lazy or spoiled, but I expected to be one tap away from adding appointments to my calendar," it said. — TJD, GMA News
