Google doodle honors origami grandmaster
An origami-themed doodle on Wednesday served as search giant Google's tribute to Akira Yoshizawa, considered the grandmaster of origami, the art of folding paper.
Visitors to Google's home page were greeted with a Google logo appearing to be made out of folded paper.

Yoshizawa, who died in 2005, would have turned 101 on Wednesday.
As in the past, clicking on the doodle would take the visitor to a Google search results page for Akira Yoshizawa.
Yoshizawa was born on March 14, 1911 and is credited with raising origami from a craft to a living art.
He is credited for creating more than 50,000 models. He acted as an international cultural ambassador for Japan throughout his career.
In 1983, Japanese emperor Hirohito named him to the Order of the Rising Sun, one of highest honors that can be given to a Japanese citizen.
Yoshizawa used the traditional art of origami to understand and communicate geometrical problems.
He died on his 94th birthday on March 14, 2005 from complications of pneumonia. — KG, GMA News
