Angry Birds Space now available for download

At long last, fans of the popular Angry Birds franchise can get the latest out-of-this-world version of their favorite game.

 

"Angry Birds Space" is now available for download for several mobile and desktop platforms, tech site Engadget reported Thursday.

 

"Rovio's latest game -- which we recently took for a spin on Samsung's Galaxy Note LTE at SXSW -- frees itself from the earth's gravitational pull to explore the final frontier," Engadget said.

 

It said versions of the game are available for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices, as well as the Mac and PC, with PC retail copies to follow shortly.

 

Citing a press release, Engadget said "Angry Birds Space" also marks a new frontier, being the first integrated entertainment launch for Rovio as merchandise, animation and books are available in retail at the same time as the game.

 

Like its earlier Earth-based versions, a player uses physics —this time the gravity of nearby planets— to set up trick shots for their birds to defeat the enemy pigs.

"This launch marks a huge step for us as a company, and our whole team and partners have really pulled together to bring out a fantastic array of exciting products and experiences. "Angry Birds Space" features 60 interstellar levels, with regular free updates in the works.
