Google Nexus to hit shelves July 19?
Will Google's much-anticipated Nexus 7 tablet find its way to consumers' waiting hands as early as next week, July 19.
A tech site on Tuesday said retailers have suggested a July 19 release date in the United Kingdom for the new device, which runs the latest version of Google's Android OS, Jelly Bean.
Tech site T3 reported retailer Currys suggested the potential release as it started taking pre-orders for the 16GB tablet.
It added July 19 "fits with the two- to three-week shipping period currently being touted by Google."
However, it also said the retail outlet has so far failed to give details into the launch of the Google Play-exclusive 8GB storage capacity option.
Nexus 7, a co-venture between Google and Asus, is a potential challenger to Apple Inc.’s reign over the tablet market by appealing to budget-conscious users.
It features a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and a 1280 x 800p HD display at £159.99 for the 8GB option, £199.99 for the 16GB model.
It also has a 1.2-megapixel forward-facing camera and Wi-Fi connectivity option. — TJD, GMA News
