Pentagon cracks down on porn use

Not even the Pentagon appears to be immune from pornography, as shown by a senior official's recent warning to employees against browsing porn sites, a tech site reported.   The Missile Defense Agency’s executive director, John James Jr., warned his staff against “inappropriate” use of the agency’s servers, Wired.com said.   James' directive particularly referred to “accessing websites, or transmitting messages, containing pornographic or sexually explicit images” lest they risk “the introduction of malware or malicious code,” the report added.   Wired.com said James' directive was not the first time the Pentagon waged war on pornography as a non-traditional threat.   It noted that in 2006, some units passed out handbooks titled “Every Man’s Battle,” which promoted abstinence to troops thought to be sexually promiscuous.   Wired.com also noted that while sexually explicit material is not supposed to be sold on military bases, "physical-media" porn is sometimes found in on-base post exchanges.   It noted that in 2007, religious groups asked then Defense Secretary Robert Gates to crack down on magazines like Playboy and Maxim. — ELR, GMA News
