Russian hobbyist builds flying Avengers SHIELD Helicarrier

Fans of The Avengers may want to get their hands on this: a working remote-controlled model of the fictional S.H.I.E.L.D. organization's flying fortress.

The replica made by RC Design forum member native18 can float and fly, according to a report on tech-oriented site Technabob.

Technabob said native18 was the same hobbyist who built a replica of the DeLorean quadrotor from "Back to the Future".

S.H.I.E.L.D. is a fictional secret military law-enforcement agency in the Marvel Comics universe, and is featured in "The Avengers."

The acronym stood for "Supreme Headquarters, International Espionage, Law-Enforcement Division," but was changed in 1991 to "Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate."

It also stood for "Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division."

An English translation of the forum where native18 is a member indicated the hobbyist who built the helicarrier is 46 years old.

On the other hand, a separate article on tech site CNET said the remote-controlled helicarrier can "sail on ponds and take to the skies."

"All it needs is an on-board flamethrower," CNET said. — TJD, GMA News
