New malware attack poses as DHL express mail
Netizens will have to watch out against a new malware attack, with the payload disguised as an email from DHL Express, a security vendor said Monday.
Sophos said the malware has been spammed out, claiming to be a DHL Express tracking notification with the subject line "Processing complete successfully."
"Attached to each of the emails is a file, DHL_Express_Processing_complete.pdf.zip, which contains malware that Sophos products detect as Troj/BredoZp-S," it said.
Opening and unzipping the file will put a computer running Microsoft's Windows "at risk of infection," Sophos warned.
Sophos said malicious emails claiming to come from the likes of DHL, FedEx and UPS are nothing new, but still manage to fool victims.
"Don't allow yourself, your friends and family to be suckered in by social engineering like this," it said. — TJD, GMA News
