Hacktivists identify bully linked to Canadian teen's suicide

Hacktivist collective Anonymous has traced and publicly named the alleged bully who supposedly pushed Amanda Todd, a 15-year-old Canadian, to suicide. Anonymous named the teenager's alleged bully – and supplied his address – in a post on Pastebin.com, according to a report on The Huffington Post. “We generally don’t like to deal with police first hand but were compelled to put our skills to good use protecting kids.... Ironically we have some good people in Vancouver who brought this to our admin’s attention. It’s a very sad story that affects all of us,” the Huffington Post quoted Anonymous as saying in an email to Canada's CTV News. Huffington Post added the Pastebin post describes the bully as the man who "extorted amanda todd for pictures." "This is the pedophile that social engineered Amanda Todd into supplying him nude pictures," it added. It said Anonymous described the bully as a 30-year-old from New Westminster in British Columbia. Todd had committed suicide after suffering depression and anxiety, after the man had her flash him and then harassed her. Huffington Post said Vice magazine added to the fire by posting more information such as Google Map screenshots of his house, his Facebook profile, and chat conversations. As for the man identified by Anonymous, he appeared in court on Monday on charges of sexual assault and sexual interference with a minor, unrelated to Todd. It cited a CTV report that said the man claims he was Todd's friend, and pointed at a New York man who was harassing her. Meanwhile, the Huffington Post said Todd's family is distraught by her death but her father finds consolation that his daughter has some peace. “She was very courageous and I really love that she made that video,” her father Norm told the Vancouver Sun. — LBG, GMA News
