EA pulls out 'Medal of Honor: Warfighter' due to poor reception

Poor reception has forced Electronic Arts (EA) to pull "Medal of Honor: Warfighter" from store shelves, a gaming site reported.

EA announced the "Medal of Honor" franchise has been taken “out of rotation” during its third quarter financial call, PC Gamer said.

“Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were frankly lower than deserved. This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of rotation and have to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings,” it quoted EA COO Peter Moore as saying.

It noted Moore believes the game was good, though its focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers.

For his part, Labels president Frank Gibeau said they are in a "hit-driven business" where "it’s about what you can build in a certain period of time and really deliver for the marketplace."

"And frankly we missed on Medal of Honor. And we take responsibility for that,” he said.

However, PC Gamer noted other EA properties like "Battlefield" appear rosy, with "Battlefield 3 Premium" having gained nearly three million subscribers since it launched in May. — TJD, GMA News
