Intel-based Asus phablet in the works?
Asus may be gunning against Samsung and Apple, its rivals in the mobile phone market, with a phone-tablet hybrid or "phablet" of its own, a tech site reported Friday.
Asus' 7-inch Fonepad, likely a higher-end version of the MeMO Pad, may be unveiled at the Mobile World Conference, according to a CNEt report.
CNET cited sources familiar with the product who said the Fonepad may be priced similarly or slightly higher than Google's Nexus 7 but below the MeMO Pad.
It added an independent source familiar with the product confirmed the Fonepad.
The report said the device may be powered by an Intel Atom processor with Imagination PowerVR SGX540 graphics, a 1,280x800 IPS touch screen, and 1GB of RAM.
Asus' phablet may also include storage of up to 32GB, and a front-facing 1.2-megapixel camera. — TJD, GMA News
